SHINER is the story of an obsessive-compulsive hoarder who is in the tail end of his life. We meet him on an ordinary day, sitting on a stretch of sand underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Along comes an unexpected visitor, a boy from the projects who has clearly been abused. He sets out to fish in the East River with a broomstick, a piece of string, and a safety pin. Seeing this boy sets in motion a series of events that sends the old MAN's life into turmoil, forcing him to confront the abuse he too suffered as a child. SHINER is the story of two strangers, both chained to a terrible past, who meet unexpectedly and change each other's lives forever.
